On Wednesday 21st October, Stanhope, Mitsui Fudosan and AIMCO officially launched ‘Thinking Outside the Box: Television Centre Reimagined’ a book written in partnership between author Jonathan Ball and architects AHMM.

The launch took place at the New London Architectures Building Centre in central London and the event began with a short introduction to the NLA from their Director Ben O’Connor. Alistair Shaw, Managing Director of Television Centre then took to the stage and gave a short speech on the Television Centre project and explained how the book marks an important juncture in the sites history.

Alistair explained that the book covered two eras of Television Centre, the first as a factory for television and the second as its new role as a vibrant mixed-use site. However, he explained that there is one theme that connects and transcends both eras – ‘community and collaboration’. Alistair described how the concept of community and collaboration was intrinsic to the success of the BBC in White City, helping pave the way for some of televisions greatest shows but also how to this day the theme continues to embody the ethos of those who inhabit the site, offering a bright future for White City and its ever evolving community.

The book published by Artiface is available to purchase from the following website:
